Whether you decide to lay out on a yacht, dine on a restaurant rooftop or
relax on the beach, the Chicago Air & Water Show will undoubtedly be your main attraction this weekend! Each year, over two million people flock to the lakefront on Michigan Avenue to see this
phenomenal exhibition. It is hard
to believe that just 55 years ago, this show started with a budget of $88 and
featured simple demonstrations.
Today, it's the world’s largest free air and water expedition. For the past several years, it has showcased
numerous favorite performers including the
U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights, U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Although
this year these military
headliners have been cancelled due to budget cuts, a total of 15
headliners are performing, six of which are brand new his year. Despite
the changes, it's sure to be a crowd-pleasing show just as in years
past.
The show runs from 10:00am to 3:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday. North Avenue is said to be the best viewing spot, but there are countless places throughout the city that are known for their clear views of the action.
Not sure where to watch or what to expect? This guide to the Air & Water Show is a definite must-read!
